Fans Of The Terrace Back Blackpool

Terraced properties have proved to be the best sellers amongst Blackpool
homebuyers, reports email4property.co.uk, with its monthly house price index showing that they recorded the biggest price increase of 4.8% in 2007.

Over the past seven years, terraced homes have also had the highest number of sales compared to other property types. Email4property.co.uk, the largest network of local estate agent websites, recorded a continued preference for terrace housing, making up 50.5% of house sales for 2007.

First time buyers and young families continue to choose terraced properties in Blackpool for their affordability and square footage. Investors continue to take advantage of renting these popular properties to both the student community and steady supply of seasonal workers.

David Bexon, Managing Director of email4property, comments:
“Homebuyers in Blackpool have long favoured traditional terraced homes, many of which are conveniently located in the streets leading from the seafront into the town centre, and around Blackpool hospital. Sales of terraces have constantly outstripped other property types, although the average price of £109,415 falls well under the national average and stamp duty threshold of £125,000."

“However, with Blackpool set to benefit from a valuable boost following a recent Government announcement to support a regeneration scheme for the city, prices could see further rises. Future development initiatives will be funded using a £300m package to transform Blackpool’s landscape including £100m for education, a £100m transport package putting more investment into its airport and tram system and £82m to improve sea defences and support local events. English partnerships are also allocating up to £35m for housing."

“House sales have shown some signs of slowing since 2004, therefore the regeneration will no doubt boost house prices in this area and provide a valuable contribution to its future.”
